📘Step 1. Curriculum Coverage

🔬 Pathology

Intracellular Accumulations

  • Describe the three general pathways responsible for abnormal intracellular accumulations.
  • Describe the causes, mechanisms, morphology and consequences of lipid accumulation, including steatosis.
  • Describe the causes, mechanisms, morphology and consequences of protein accumulation.
  • Describe the causes, mechanisms, morphology and consequences of glycogen accumulation.

Steatosis

  • Define steatosis.
  • Describe its causes and mechanisms.
  • Explain its morphology and consequences.

The separate KMU steatosis objectives and the lipid-accumulation objectives have been deliberately consolidated here because they assess the same core pathological process rather than being duplicated as separate AIM content.

Pathological Pigments

  • Describe the major types of pigments.
  • Differentiate between endogenous and exogenous pigments.

Pathologic Calcification

  • Define pathologic calcification.
  • Describe the types, morphology and functional alterations of pathologic calcification with examples.

Differentiate between dystrophic and metastatic calcification.
