Thanatology and Diagnosis of Death

Brain-Stem Death and Suspended Animation

Cause, Mode, Manner and Mechanism of Death
- Define and differentiate cause, mode, manner and mechanism of death.
- Enlist the various methods used for disposal of a dead body.
Death Certification
- Describe the WHO format of the death certificate and the principles underlying documentation of cause of death.
Here I have deliberately not repeated “define cause of death” twice. KMU lists it once under Death and again under Death Certificate; AIM will cover it once comprehensively and then apply it to the WHO death-certificate framework.
The actual formulation/completion of a death certificate remains a psychomotor/OSCE-OSPE competency rather than part of this cognitive topic.
