1. THE TOPIC IN ONE CONNECTED FLOW

These infections become easier to differentiate when the route of entry is linked to the form of the parasite found in humans, the tissue it affects and the investigation that demonstrates the resulting lesion. Leishmaniasis also adds a community-health link because transmission depends on the sandfly, reservoir and environment.

AIM Exam Trap: Do not confuse T. solium taeniasis with cysticercosis. Eating meat containing cysticerci produces the adult intestinal infection, while ingesting eggs can produce tissue cysticercosis.
